So if you're dairy free like me and my boyfriend... a Philly cheesesteak just sounds like either an uncomfortable time or a questionably underwhelming sandwich (without the cheese). That is, until we found out about Joe's! Small diner that has lots of menu items including cheesesteaks with either standard cheese or dairy-free cheese! They use daiya. We ordered a cheesesteak w dairy-free cheese to go and it was ready in about 10 minutes. I really enjoyed it! It was better than the other cheesesteak we had in town, without cheese, so it provides a great option for those who are dairy-free to still enjoy a Philly cheesesteak :)

I love the chill and straight Philly of this place. Food is always good, it is a Fishtown institution and they make sure you don't leave hungry. I enjoy the simplicity of the menu. They remain consistent and they know their vibe. A great place to sit down with a friend, munch and catch up.

My steak was a reasonable price and I like the size offerings so that I don't feel like I will eat too much. I asked for cherry peppers in addition and there weren't any in my steak- so that is why 4 instead of 5 stars. This is probably the best steak for your financial value, but I personally like Jim's, Dalesandro's, and Delrossi's the most. However, I think I like Joe's vegan steak the most. Two vegans recently told me daiya changed their ingredients recently to a better combination but I am not dying to try the new daiya version either.

Quick service and solid food! I ordered for takeout and it was ready in less than 5 minutes. Ordered the regular cheesesteak with Cooper Sharp cheese, and it did a great job holding me over until the start of the Super Bowl party. Would recommend if you need a quick, filling bite in the area.

We ordered some steaks for the Eagles NFC championship game. They were ready for pick up so we didn't miss kick off. Got home and the steaks were still hot and delicious. My son's gf is not from the area and her first cheesesteak experience wasn't good so I got her just an American wit and she loved it. I think we made a cheesesteak lover out of her.

Had the vegan cheesesteak and was not expecting it to be as tasty as it was. I subbed the vegan cheese for Swiss (I'm vegetarian ) and they were really nice about it. My only complaint is that this is the only sub that you can't get half of. In other words you have to pay for a full sub. So come hungry! Also make sure you love mushrooms as the "meat" is all sautéed mushrooms with onion. Love the whiz with a side of fries.

This has been my favorite place to get Philly cheesesteaks so far! The diner feels cozy and has ample seating. Came on a Saturday night and didn't have to wait. We shared a cheesesteak with onions and American cheese. Personally, I love a lot of cheese on my cheesesteaks and think that next time I would get it with cheese whiz instead of American. The old bay fries were great.

I needed an old school, no frills, hot and fresh cheese steak. Joe's was exactly what the doctor did not order, but it was comforting! The diner vibe was cool, the all female staff was so cooler, and the food was amazing! They have a gluten free menu, and that roll was carefully sourced. It's the best gf hoagie roll I've had.

Food My brother who's a local brought us to this place as his recommendation of where locals get their Philly Cheesesteaks. I got a small (6") cheesesteak with cheese whiz and an order of old bay fries for the table. The sandwich itself was pretty good. Nice tender beef complemented by the onions and cheese made for nice bites all the way. The bread itself i feel i could have been toasted a bit more in my opinion. The old bay fries were perfect in my opinion. Perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was perfectly seasoned with old bay seasoning and a good dipping sauce of cheez whiz was the perfect accompaniment Service/Ambiance You walk in and you are greeted with this old diner style restaurant vibe with perfect view of the people in kitchen cooking up the cheesesteak. Our server was nice and we got food pretty quickly so would definitely come back here
